On December 29, 2014 Professor Kim Namsu of the Department of Welfare Administration was presented with the Citizens' Award. He has been a Jeju Province Reunification Education Committee member since 1998, and has given special lectures on the subject of reunification, including lectures aimed at both students and members of the general public. He was the Director of Internal Affairs for the Jeju Province Reunification Education Committee from 2005 to 2010, during which time he established and operated a great variety of programs related to reunification. From 2007 to 2009 he was a committee member of the Democratic Peace Reunification Investigation Committee, and from 2011 to 2014 he participated in seminars and debates about reunification, and gave presentations on the topic. He also participated in the Overseas Volunteer Project in 2014, visiting Cambodia and contributing to Jeju's image as an Island of Peace.
