On June 9, 2015, the current Japanese ambassador to Korea, Kana Skikenji, made a special visit to CHU. In October 2013, he met the president of CHU, Kim Sung-hun, at a special invitational ceremony. Since that time, the two have been involved in discussions on how to expand and improve Korea-Japan exchange programs, and Mr. Kana was given a general introduction to CHU during this visit. He expressed his opinion that he expects Jeju, the Island of Peace's representative university, CHU, to play a leading role in deepening and improving relations and exchanges between Korea and Japan. In particular, since CHU is a specialized college focused on job skills, located in the heart of Northeast Asia, and offers students Japanese cultural exchange programs, student exchange programs and other such programs, and produces global experts, he expects the university to play an active role in Korea-Japan relations.
