Cheju Halla University (president: Kim, Seong - Hun) As a part of WCC Project, Office of International Affairs visited Jarkarta, Indonesia from September 10 to 13 and held a world education fair. They also agreed on cooperative exchange MOU with Indonesian educational and government departments.
In this visit, Halla University signed on MOU with various Indonesian partners such as SEAMOLEC, an educational institute operated by Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia; Bureau of Internship of Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration; Bureau of Vocational High Schools of Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia; and Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Open Learning Center. Particularly, the Halla officials visited SMKN 41, a vocational high school and gave a presentation. In addition, they agreed on student and academic exchange with general education high schools such as 1, 57, and ALC SMA28. On the other hand, they signed MOU to develop a localized Saemaul Movement training program with (tentatively) Saemaul Movement Headquarter, Indonesia (SEKOLAH TINGGI EKONOMI DAN PERBANKAN ISLAM).
The world education fair, which is entitled ¡°Education EXPO 2015: Exclusively with Korean Colleges¡± is sponsored by Korean National Institute for International Education and Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. It is also co-hosted by Council of International Exchange Department Chairs, Korean Council of University College Education, SEAMOLEC (South East Asia Monisters of Education Organization Regional Open Learning Center) and Corporation of Educational and Cultural Exchange between Korea and Indonesia. The participants include 16 Korean colleges, 36 Indonesian educational institutes and over 800 students.
Indonesian local broadcasting companies also showed their high interest in the expo as well as Jeju Island thanks to Hallyu Korean TV shows. The Halla Officials distributed Jeju Life Official Guidebook to them.
Halla University will keep inviting Indonesian international students and working on diverse cooperation programs through the close network with Indonesian government departments.
