held 9th International Symposium on "Practice Based Simulation Model" on Friday October 23 2015. It is presented by Halla / Newcastle PBL Center at Cheju Halla University for national and international professors, clinicians, or practice trainers.

The symposium was organized by Halla / Newcastle PBL Center at Cheju Halla University and sponsored by the Ministry of Education. It was to overview the present and the future of practice-based curriculum on nursing and health care, and to share updated information, researches, and experiences on practice-based teaching strategies such as problem-based learning (PBL), or training methods using simulation, etc.

Foreign guest speakers include professor Margaret McMillan and professor Sarah Jeong from The University of Newcastle, Australia, professor Edward Stepleton from School of Medicine at Stony Brook University, New York, professor Vico Chiang from Hong Kong Polytech University, professor Yukiko Orii from Kanagawa University of Human Services, and professor Huy Nguyen Vu Quoc from Vietnam Hue National University. Professor Park, Mi-Young from Cheju Halla University also participated. They presented their research outcomes and practices related to the theme of Practice-Based Simulation Model. And the participants shared their experience and knowledge on PBL and Simulation Model, and talked about how to support students' competence in practice, critical thinking, teamwork and self-oriented learning strategies.

Since its opening in January 2002, Cheju Halla University Halla / Newcastle PBL Center has signed an agreement of exchange with PBL Evaluation Center at the University of Newcastle, and endeavored to research and practice PBL method, and adapt this specialized curriculum to social needs. For example, the center has regularly arranged international symposium, workshops with experts, and especially PBL workshops for professors and practitioners from all over the country and operated academic-industrial cooperative curriculum for Cheju Halla Hospital and Cheju Halla University.
