CHU (president: Kim, Seong – Hun) students participated in one of the university-level international development and cooperation projects by KOICA in order to understand ODA practice in Hanoi and Hue City, Vietnam in the winter of 2015-16.
Only 30 students who won the competition among 100 candidates who took courses on international development and cooperation in the previous year were dispatched in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and the central area which was once a ferocious battlefield the famous Korean Tiger Division was stationed.
They visited KOICA Hanoi Office and listened to a lecture by Euikyo Choi, an NGO activist in Vietnam. He talked about Korean assistance to Vietnamese economic development. Then, they moved to Hue to educate public health to local residents in a nearby primary school and a nursing home center. In detail, they showed how to properly wash hands, brush teeth, massage growth plates, CPR, balance nutrition etc.
Carefully enough to minimize any cultural and language barriers, they divided into 5 groups and each group had one Hue National University student for an advisor. This strategy was so successful that they could prepare for the potential problems and execute the project.
